This devotional series is for every wild, out-of-the-box, not-quite-right Renegade Daughter of God. Who, by calling or design, finds themselves unable to point to anything that’s been done before them as a point of reference for the path that God has called them to. In my book Soul Stuff, I wrote about how, sometimes, the greatest enemy of a new move of God, is someone who was a part of an old move of God. Unable to recognize that the divine is present in the tattooed and ripped denim covered as He is in the conventional and pristine, they fail to recognize the Renegade Daughter as an asset to the body of Christ and not a threat.
It is the infinite wisdom of God to choose, “…the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
This is not a call to reject consecration, for through God and because of His presence in your life you will be called to a higher standard of living than those around you. However, this is a summons to every Renegade Daughter of God who is not enthralled with religion and rules instead they are lovers of His presence. Who, like Paul and his famous trek along the Damascus road, have experienced a conversion as radical as their calling. Who charged out of sin and into His presence full-throttle. These Daughters are called to both blaze trails and walk through the fire afterward. Who stand in the face of Nebuchadnezzar and boldly proclaim, “…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18)
These Daughters have faith that is neither surface or cultural, it is their intrinsic heartbeat. They cannot be pigeonholed to a profession, path, or political party. They are the Renegade Daughters of God, who have accepted their birthright to live a life brimming to overflow with God’s power and promise. They are not lawless rebels, intent to create chaos and confusion (Prov. 18:2) they are the refuse-to-conform, unable to be predicted, move of God. They will not settle for less than everything God has promised them personally, not the secondhand passed down promises of the generation before them.
